Divinatory Tools

This page is for digital divination. That said, if you’re just now beginning your journey into the esoteric, this part might not resonate with you. I won’t include many regular “how to begin occultism” guides here. Some of those will ultimately be found on the sorcery page. This area focuses, instead, on tools that have a uniquely-technological flavor. They are either strictly-online methods of divination, scripts and programs written for divination, or other metaphysical tools existing in cyberspace specifically.

  • Astrodienst, while far from perfect is generally agreed to be the best, most customizable online astrological chart generation tool, with the most accessible free options. I use it in my attempts at astrology.
  • Astraya’s Oracle, while still unfinished, features rune readings, Tarot readings, and other quick, randomized readings provided by the magic of technology. I’ve used this site a bit, and I recommend it. Looking forward to more from this same site in the future.
  • Free Vision Oracle is an extremely-unique online oracle. It’s difficult to get a handle on a first, but the creativity and effort of the creator shines through, and the complexity of it makes it quite suited to equally complex divinatory questions.
  • Askthecards.info is just what you’d expect - online card readings. It provides interpretations for the cards as well, but frankly, I ignore those when I use the site. It’s simply, for me, a good quick way to pull some cards in cyberspace if necessary.
  • Kloracle: Emoji Divination allows you to treat emojis as if they were runes, cards, or other tools. Simply click the crystal ball, and an emoji will appear. Interpreting it? Solely up to you. Enjoy. I sure did. Emojis, after all, condense a lot of meaning into a symbol…
  • The Quantum Pope is a site I can’t explain in brief or even in detail. You have to visit it to understand, and even then, it’s hard to grasp. Is it a parody? Serious chaos magic? Who knows? It’s beautiful, chaotic, and full of strange visions.
  • Zero Sum contains a massive trove of scripts for Tarot (and other) readings online, as well as sigil creation, evocations, and other sorcerous activities. I’m not certain I’m on the same page as the creator philosophically, but there’s a lot of talent here.
  • Random.org is exactly what you’d think - a page that randomly generates this and that when needed. Cards, dice, etc. Very useful for quick divinations and developing creative processes for divination involving things like coins, dice, etc.

I might include some articles of my own here, too, and indeed have plans to. Below I’ve jotted down some topics I’d like to discuss.

  • Shufflemancy. The practice of using a randomized playlist for divination. A much-misunderstood concept that is easy to customize for a particular task, but takes nuance.
  • I’m Feeling Lucky. Many, many Wikipedia-like sites (still) have a button like this, or another feature that will take you to a randomized page. This can be used for divination, especially with a small, topical wiki.
  • Beating Algorithms. Sadly, some spiritual people nowadays will interpret obvious adaptations by online algorithms as “messages from the universe” or otherwise divinatory. How do you guard against this, and why is it a bad idea to begin with?
