Text-Shadow Adventures
Visit this collection of text-shadow effects over on Code Pen.
You can do a lot with the text-shadow property in CSS. This simple little aspect to a text’s styling is so exploitable in so many ways (and I mean that in a positive fashion, naturally). A lot of the time, it goes far beyond simply “let’s add a shadow to this text” and verges into the realm of neon glow, rosy blushing, fire, and more.
This page collates those text effects using (primarily) the text-shadow property that I find cool or interesting, with some notes in the CSS about how to change them to suit your needs. These effects needn’t be applied anywhere in particular, but some will make excellent headings of various sorts, or work well for general links or menus.
Thus far (as of May 2024) none of these use Javascript, but the animated ones use keyframes, a technique I'm only beginning to grasp.
This page is divided into two sections, the first of which is stationary text. The second part features the animated text; these aren’t particularly flash-y compared to some parts of the internet, but I did want to mention that there is some flashing. On this page, the animation is only visible when you move your cursor over the text - you can change that on your own, of course.
